Do you have a retail store?
Simply no, the costs associated with having a retail store means we could not bring you the best possible prices. Our designs and products are detailed on our website and we communicate with our clients via facebook, email, Skype, phone & private appointments.
Do you offer a fitting service?
Yes, we do and we love meeting our clients who are able to utilise our fitting service. We are based in the Waikato, NZ so please do contact us to book an appointment.
What if I am unable to come to you for a fitting?
Not to worry, we offer a mail-order service. We have clients all over New Zealand and internationally that we design and make costumes for using our own specially designed system.
Do you have any off the rack costumes for sale?
Not always, this area of our business is under development and it does depends on how busy we are with our custom-made items so on occasion when we have pre-made items for sale we will list them on our facebook page, click here to ‘like’ our page and receive regular updates.
Do you have a size chart?
No, we don’t because as a designer we appreciate each person’s individuality when it comes to body shape so we use your measurements to create your own individual pattern.
Why doesn’t your website show any prices for the Sport Aerobics costumes & Bikinis?
There are no prices as each item has been designed and custom-made for the individual; we find the best way is to work with your budget.
What form of payment do you accept?
We use direct credit into our NZ bank account; this also means that you are able to pay off your costume in the lead up to your competition.
PLEASE NOTE: No garment will be sent until payment is made in FULL, no matter when your show is or your circumstances.
How far out from my competition do I need to place an order?
As soon as you’ve committed to your competition date, the earlier the better, we recommend at least 8-16 weeks prior to your competition date to secure your place in our sewing schedule. We always try our best to fit in all competitors; however being a small family business, at times we can be fully booked and unable to work with new clients.
Once I’ve ordered my costume when will it be made?
On receipt of your order we will add your costume to our sewing schedule, generally:
For our Sport Aerobics clients your costume will take 6-8 weeks from receipt of your booking form and deposit to go thru the design and construction process.
For our Bodybuilding, Figure, Bikini clients your costumes are made in the final 4-6 weeks in the lead up to your competition. (Please note booking your costume in advance is a vital step in the process to ensure your place in our short timeframe sewing schedule)
When and where do I measure for my costumes?
On receipt of your booking form and deposit we will advise when we require your measurements and when the time comes we will either organise an appointment in our Cambridge studio or if you are a mail order client we will email our step by step Flexiwear’s custom measurement chart to follow.
For accurate measuring we advise you have someone else take your measurements.
Will my costume be lined?
Yes all our costumes are fully lined with premium swimwear lining, with exception of the men’s posing trunks which are only lined in the front.
Can you make my design from a sketch?
We sure can, and to ensure we have interpreted your design correctly we re-sketch to what we call a working drawing for approval before any work is started.
What type of fabrics and colours do you have?
We source our fabrics from all over the world to ensure we are supplying you with only the best.
Our range includes 1st grade Italian nylon Lycra, velvets, glitter velvets, holographic Lycra's, metallic Lycra’s in many colours and shades of the rainbow.
How do I see your fabric range?
We have a sample book for viewing by appointments and for our mail order clients, we email thru a selection of fabrics then once we have narrowed it down to a select few we post you out a fabric swatch card for you to see.
Occasionally we post a selection of fabrics on Facebook for your inspiration.
What type of embellishments do you have?
Depending on your requirements and budget we have beads, sequins, lace, crystal trims and rhinestones.
If we don’t have it in stock we will work with our suppliers around the world to source it especially for you.
Most of our bikini & figure clients use rhinestones (otherwise known as diamante, chaton rose or crystals) to embellish their suits.
At Flexiwear, we prefer to use Preciosa Viva12 from The Czech Republic.
Preciosa is well-known across the USA, Europe & UK and offers a brilliant sparkle and is top quality. It also shows amazing colour close up and at a distance. (Swarovski crystals are available by request)
You may also like to decorate your own (we are more than happy to make a base/blank costume for you to finish with your own decoration).
What is the best way to look after my costume?
Dissolve a small amount of mild chlorine free detergent in a bucket of cool/warm water. Submerge your costume in the soapy water and gently hand wash (swishing your costume around in the water). DO NOT SOAK. Remove and rinse in clean cold water until water runs clear. Place between two towels on flat surface and press lightly until your costume is semi-dry. Dry flat out of direct sunlight.
NOTE- for costumes with rhinestone embellishments: we suggest NOT to wash it, instead carefully sponge clean the crutch and underarm area as some washing detergents can affect the rhinestone adhesive.
Avoid rough surfaces and contact with perfumes, hair sprays, deodorants, oils and tanning lotions.
Do not soak, scrub, bleach, or use products with bleaching agents.
Do not wring, leave wet or rolled in a towel.
Do not spin, tumble dry, dry-clean or iron.
What if I receive my costume and it doesn’t seem to sit right?
Contact us straight away (within 24 hours of receiving your costume). We’ll ask that you email us a couple of photos wearing it so we can visually see what is going on, it maybe the way you have put the item on. As part of our custom-made service if there are any alterations needed there is no additional charge, (conditions apply).
Alterations or additional embellishments done after your competition are at your own expense and garments must be supplied clean or a cleaning fee of $50 will apply.
Please note: It is very important that you follow our measuring instructions carefully and contact us if you would like further clarification. We can always talk you thru the process on a Skype consultation. We will not be held responsible for any errors made by a client when taking their measurements, as part of our measuring instructions we also ask for a set of photos so we can visually identify if something seems not quite right with your supplied measurements.
Is my deposit refundable if I decide not to compete?
Your deposit is non-refundable and can only be used for the competition date you have committed to as time in the sewing schedule has already been allocated to you, in some special circumstances we maybe able to transfer your order to another competition date, this is assessed case by case.
What is your return policy?
Due to the personal nature of our products and as our costumes are custom made to your individual measurements all sales are final.
How much do you charge for delivery and how will my item be delivered?
New Zealand delivery is via NZ Couriers.
Delivery costs will vary, most items it is as little as $5.00, (rural addresses have a $5.00 surcharge)
An email will be sent with tracking information once your item is ready for delivery.
Your parcel will need to be signed for on delivery.
Do you ship internationally?
We do ship to most countries. Custom taxes and duties are the responsibility of the buyer.
Before commencing an international order, we will provide a quote for shipping for approval.
